I just created a new category in my blog named “Chuyện công việc” which I think that I will share only by English. I hope that I will create a new habit. On the one hand, I write for myself first and strengthen my English skills as one of my priorities now. One the other hand, writing is a healing way.
Why did I create that?
I love learning a new language but it can’t bear any higher level days without having an environment to practice it every day. For example, my writing is stuck although I tried enrolling in some writing classes before or even speaking classes. So, I thought that immersion is an essential way via self-study. Writing practice allows me to express my own ideas, helps me to improve logical thinking in arranging ideas, spelling and grammar rechecking.
Anh Thu, CEO of my former company said: “Writing effectively is a very powerful skill. Reading will help you form a better judgment, and learning how to write will help you communicate what you’ve learned. Communication is the #1 factor in determining the success”
I totally agree that communication is a key which helps us to convey our ideas to other people, leads to work effectively or lives better.
Why do I would like to share about my job?
I am recently working as a Main Host (more than one year) in the accommodation field, tourism state. It is my main job. Regarding my role, I have a big chance to meet kinds of people who are travelers, business persons, or local people via creating a good staying experience in Hanoi, Vietnam. The guest-host relationship brings many interesting cultural experiences as well as bears useful fruits after some crisis situations. Actively engaging with my knowledge, my experiences allow me to write it down, so I could practice English every day in astonishment and joyfulness.
What will I write?
Two big things I will willing to share:
Firstly, I will share what I do. Host is not a new job (in some tourism definition, Host is one of the titles following Receptionist, tourist agency, local people,…). In the future, people could travel easier, hosting jobs is more common. I am managing some properties to sell rooms via OTA Channels and Direct Reservation as well. However, the road to being a good Host is not straightforward because no book teaches you the details. Like many people in Vietnam, I started to work in tourism without fundamental knowledge about tourism, hospitality, so I learned a lot of things about tourism.
Secondly, I write about the lesson I got. I would like to share meaningful small, lovely stories from guests, and memorable crisis situations. My teammate or I sometimes jump into crisis situations with guests, which start from our side or guest side. These may bring terrible and negative emotions, even let me brave to facing these problems: How I deal with guests in bad situations and learn to become a good person every day or how I find out the difference of cultural identities in the world to treat guests well,…Honestly, if someone asks me what I am doing, I don’t know how to say exactly what I do because I am quite hard to depict.
This post is my first post in “Chuyện công việc”.
